Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
Effective date: 11 July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Backline Limited ("Backline", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies (local and session storage) across the Backline platform. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the sites you visit. "Similar technologies" include browser local and session storage. They are used to make services work, keep you signed in, remember preferences, and, where you allow it, to measure how a page is used.
2. Cookies inside the signed-in application
Inside the authenticated Backline application we use only strictly necessary cookies and local/session storage, there is no advertising or cross-site tracking in the app. Specifically:
| Purpose | Type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Keep you signed in | Strictly necessary (session cookie / token) | Authentication and security |
| Remember your selected project | Strictly necessary (local storage) | So the app opens where you left off |
| Remember your theme (light/dark) | Strictly necessary (local storage) | Interface preference |
| Push-notification subscription (where enabled) | Strictly necessary | Deliver notifications you opted into; revocable in your browser at any time |
Because these are essential to provide a service you have asked for, they do not require consent.
3. Cookies on public landing pages
Backline hosts public "landing pages" that route fans to streaming platforms. On these pages:
- A basic, cookieless, non-identifying click measurement (destination platform, country from edge headers, device type, timestamp) always operates as essential measurement. It stores no fan personal data.
- Where the relevant Client has connected their own analytics, the page may also run that Client's analytics instrumentation and session recording, and any marketing tags (such as a Meta Pixel or Google Tag) the Client has configured. These are non-essential.
- For visitors in the EU, EEA, and UK, all non-essential analytics, recording, and marketing tags are off by default and run only after the visitor accepts them via the on-page cookie notice. A visitor can decline, in which case none of them run. Everyone else receives them without a banner. The choice is stored on the visitor's device.
Backline acts as a processor for this landing-page analytics on the Client's instructions; the Client is the controller. The pages contain no fields asking a fan for their name, email, or other personal details, and any typed text is masked in recordings.
4. Third-party cookies
Where a Client enables their own analytics or marketing tags on a landing page, those third parties (for example Amplitude, Meta, or Google) may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, subject to the consent gate above. Inside the application we do not set third-party advertising cookies.
5. Managing cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and on EU/EEA/UK landing pages you can decline non-essential cookies at the notice. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the application (such as staying signed in) from working. General guidance is available at allaboutcookies.org and youronlinechoices.eu.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a revised "Last updated" date.
